What is discoloration or dark spots?
Skin discoloration, dark spots or hyperpigmentation occurs when the skin produces too much melanin in a concentrated area. It can appear as a small dark spot, post-acne mark, sun or age spot.
What causes dark spots and uneven skin tone?
There are many factors that can contribute to the formation of dark spots, age spots, post acne marks or uneven skin tone. Some of these causes include sun, aging, pregnancy, hormone fluctuation, acne or skin injury. The most common causes are due to sun damage from UV exposure or general aging which can result in the formation of dark spots, age spots, dark marks or freckles that most often appear on the face and hands. Another factor is scarring that can be left behind from acne breakouts or blemishes. Some skin tones or skin types are more susceptible to post acne marks and scars. As a result, skin reacts to the irritation by overproducing pigment. Melasma is another condition often created by pregnancy and hormone imbalance that can result in tan to brown patches around the mouth and eyes.

Which formula is right for me?
Palmer’s Skin Success Fade Creams are available in two formulas – For All Skin Types and For Oily Skin. Most skin types will respond well to the For All Skin Types formula. Those with oily, problematic or acne prone skin may prefer to use the For Oily Skin formula or the Palmer’s Skin Success Dark Spot Corrector which are formulated to be lightweight and non-greasy with special oil absorbing ingredients. Both Fade Cream versions are ideal for use under make-up. For nighttime use, Palmer’s recommends the Palmer’s Skin Success Fade Cream Night formula to help you wake to a more youthful glow.
Since skin discoloration is not limited to the face and dark spots from sun, aging, and acne scars can appear all over the body, Palmer’s recommends Palmer’s Skin Success Fade Milk Tone Correcting Body Lotion. This lightweight tone correcting body lotion is ideal for those pigment prone areas on the body such as knees, elbows, feet and decolletage.
