Frequently Asked Questions

Skin Success®

What is hyperpigmentation?
Hyperpigmentation occurs when the skin produces too much melanin in a concentrated area. It can appear as a small dark spot or a larger discolored area. Many factors can contribute to this unwanted darkening. Among the most common causes are:
Scarring: previous acne or injury to the skin even when healed may leave a dark mark or spot on the skin.
Sun exposure: can cause anything from freckles to large brownish patches.
Aging: commonly causes brown spots also known as liver spots or age spots on the face, body and hands.
Pregnancy: causes a condition known as Melasma. These tan-to-brown patches around the mouth or eyes are also referred to as the "mask of pregnancy".

How do fading products work?
Palmer's Skin Success Fading products contain the maximum OTC amount of a targeted non-prescription skin lightener, one of the safest and most effective ingredients for eliminating skin discoloration and evening skin tone. This ingredient works by reducing excess pigment in the skin, targeting the hyperpigmented area for a more even tone.

When will I see an improvement?
Palmer's Skin Success Fading products gradually fade unwanted spots. Results should be visible within 6-8 weeks of treatment. Please be aware that skin is being treated with hydroquinone and can be extra sensitive to the sun. Because of this, Palmer's recommends the daily use of a sunscreen with an SPF (sun protection factor) of 15 or higher to prevent future discoloration.

I noticed that Palmer's Skin Success offers different fading products. Which one is right for me?
Palmer's Skin Success Fade Creams are offered according to skin type- For All Skin Types, For Oily Skin and For Dry Skin. Those with normal skin should choose the For All Skin Types formula. Those with combination or oilier skin types would benefit from the For Oily Skin formula and those with drier skin should choose the For Dry Skin formula. Palmer's Skin Success Eventone Fade Milk is ideal for body use as the formula is lighter and best for all over body application. The Palmer's Skin Success Ultra Fade Serum is specially developed as a lightweight formula, ideal for those desiring a serum consistency.

I noticed there is an SPF in the Fade Creams, what level SPF is it?
Palmer's Skin Success Fade Creams contain an SPF 4. The targeted skin lightening ingredient within the product makes the skin more sun-sensitive so Palmer's includes an SPF 4 to help offset any sun-sensitivity. Additionally, Palmer's recommends that you use an SPF 15 or higher as part of your daily skin care regimen.

Are the Palmer's Skin Success Fade product safe to use during pregnancy?
Palmer's recommends that you first consult your doctor before beginning any new skin care regimen.
